Logan Copeland, 20, was born Sept. 24, 2001 and passed away Friday, Feb. 4, 2022.
Logan was a 2020 graduate of DeQuincy High School. During his years at DeQuincy High School, he served as President of BETA, he was a member of the Student Council, Chess Club, Youth for Christ, Illuminate Club, Yearbook Staff, Quiz Bowl, the National Honor Society and the DeQuincy High School Choir for three years. He was a Class Representative and participated in Literally Rally. Logan was also involved in the Special Olympics and a volunteer for the DeQuincy Fire Department. Logan was a Junior at McNeese State University pursuing a degree in Communication with a Public Relations concentration and a minor in history. His plans were to receive his Masters in History at La Tech with the goal of becoming a professor of History. He was employed at Starbucks in Lake Charles.
Logan was an avid photographer, videographer, and musician. He loved playing tennis, golf, volleyball, board games and video games. He also loved spending time with family and friends, especially on their family vacations and at their Toledo Bend camp. He enjoyed hunting with his dad, fishing with Paw-Tet, eating Lauryn’s and Connor’s groceries, cooking with his Nana and sister, shopping with his mom, playing Sorry with his Maw Maw and Paw Paw Brown and making videos with his sister and brother.
Logan was a faithful member of The Pentecostal Church of DeQuincy. He played a vital role in the music ministry and was actively involved with the youth group. He was the lead drummer at TPC and the Alliance Youth Worship Leader. He was a member of Young Ministers in Training, Pastor’s Leaders Are Readers Club, the Alliance Youth Staff, TPC SS Puppeteers, TPC Youth Sign Team and served in every area possible.
Logan began attending Youth Camp at the age of three with his sister and his love for the Louisiana UPCI District campgrounds grew from there. He never missed an opportunity to attend. He served as a SALT leader, a Drama Team member, and as Allstate Youth Choir Tenor for several years. He was also involved in videography and photography at the camps and campmeeting.
Logan was very kind hearted, compassionate, and loved to have fun; he was an encourager, a worshiper, a talented drummer, talented musician and so much more. Logan was a loving son, brother, grandson, and friend to many. He leaves behind a legacy of love, and only eternity will tell the lives he impacted during his short time on this earth.
Logan is survived by his parents, Johnny and Sheree Solomon Copeland, his sister, Lauryn Copeland Hatten and brother-in-law Connor Jay Hatten; paternal grandparents, George “Tet” and Peggy Copeland, maternal grandparents, C. R. and Ruth Brown, adopted grandmother Norma “MawMaw Froggy” Boblett along with a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and many many friends.
He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Rev. Jerry Solomon; his uncle, Donald Ray Copeland; great-grandparents, Charlie and Lavania Brown and Elmer and Lee Royer.
The family received friends from 4-6 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 6, with the funeral service following at 6 p.m. at First United Pentecostal Church, located at 230 Smith St., DeQuincy. A prayer service was held at 10 a.m. Monday, Feb. 7, at the church. Pastor Wayne Neyland officiated. Interment followed at Masonic Cemetery in DeQuincy.
In lieu of flowers the family has requested donations be made to TPC Building Fund, P. O. Box 878, DeQuincy LA, 70633.
Arrangements were handled by Riley Smith & Sons Funeral Home, 1810 W. Fourth St., DeQuincy.
