J. C. Mallet, Sr., 92, a lifelong resident of Starks, was born in Port Barre. He was one of the city’s oldest citizens. He worked at General Box for 14 years and Equitable Bag Co. for 15 years where he retired.
He is survived by his four sons, Joseph C. Mallet, Jr., Tommy Ray Mallet, Jerome Keith Mallet, all of Starks, and Henry James Taylor of Port Barre; four daughters, Judy M. Spears, Rita Renee Mallet, Wanda Faye Mallet, all of Starks, Cora Lee Simien (Samuel) of Orange, Texas; siblings, Medrick Mallet, Jr. of Port Barre and Rosalee Harrison of Opelousas; 14 grandchildren; and nine great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Rosa Lee Mallet; his parents, Medrick and Rosa Mallet; three brothers; and two sisters.
Services will be held at Hixson-Snider Funeral Home in DeQuincy on Saturday, Aug. 21, at 11 a.m., with Bishop Jacob Thomas officiating. Visitation will begin on Saturday at 9 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will follow at St. Mary’s Community Cemetery in Starks under the direction of Hixson-Snider Funeral Home.
