Charles Lee Smith passed safely into the arms of his Savior on Thursday, Dec. 10, 2020 at the age of 82.
Charles Lee married his high school sweetheart, Annie Jane Dunn Smith and stayed married to her for 63 years before her passing. He wanted everyone to know he loved and cherished his family most of all. Back in the day, Charles Lee was known as “Choo Choo Charlie” and he was a true Tiger!
He leaves to cherish his memory, his loving daughter, Corliss Cooper and husband, Bryan, who he thought the world of, along with his sisters-in-law, Paralee Smith and Pamela Dunn Courmier and husband, Veachel; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Annie Jane Dunn Smith; his only son, Sonny Smith; and his only grandchild, Jamie Lynne Cooper; parents, Joe and Anita Smith; and his brother, Sam Smith.
He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
The family received friends from 5-8 p.m. Friday, Dec. 11 at Riley Smith & Sons Funeral Home in DeQuincy and from 12 noon until 3 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 12 at The Pentecostal of DeQuincy, 301 W. Fourth St., DeQuincy with the funeral service beginning at 3 p.m. Pastor Wayne Neyland and Rev. Alvin Dale Smith officiated. Interment followed at Masonic Cemetery.
Arrangements were handled by Riley Smith & Sons Funeral Home, 1810 W. Fourth St., DeQuincy.
