Starks Historical Society

The Starks Historical Society was incorporated in March 1993. The purpose of the society is to compile and preserve the history of Starks and to make that history available to the public through a library and websites.

The Historical Society is located at 664 Old River Road. The library is open by appointment by calling (337) 743-6406. Meetings are held the second Tuesday of each month at 7 p.m.

A collection of Southwest Louisiana Record books by Father Hebert has begun through memorial donations.

Other books of interest include James Albert Johnson’s collection, Morris Dugan’s autobiography, old church records, and numerous genealogy quarterlies for southwest Louisiana and southeast Texas. Historical items of interest are on display. Vol. 3 of Pioneers of the Past is partially complete and waiting on more stories.
