DeQuincy’s Public Library began in 1939 by the DeQuincy Study Club and became a part of the Calcasieu Parish Library System in 1944. The present branch library building at 102 W. Harrison St., was opened in June 1994.
The DeQuincy branch offers a wide selection of books, magazines, reference materials, books on tape, music CDs, etc. In addition, materials may be requested from other libraries around the parish and from the State Library and be on hand within a few days.
The Library now has a number of computer terminals available for use in research and accessing the internet. The library’s catalog is also on line and patrons may make requests for materials and check on their accounts from their homes.
