Dairy Queen

Pictured are, front row, left to right: Pam Brown, Fredia Brown, Rosita Curran, Deborah Brown; back row: Leah Weaver, Victoria Ziegler, Ariel Perkins, Kim Smith and Kristie Hyatt.

For the year 1973, The Dairy Queen timeline reads: Say the word “Scrumpdillyishus®!” That’s also the year that Fredia Brown, fresh out of high school started work at what was to become DeQuincy’s Dairy Queen. Her sister, Pam, joined her not long after. Three things figure prominently in the success of the lives of these women: God, family and an old-fashioned work ethic. In 1994 they became the owners.

DQ fans hail not only from DeQuincy, but from surrounding areas as well. All agree: Scrumpdillyishus continues to be the perfect word for the delicious eats and ice cream treats at one of DeQuincy’s favorite hangouts.
