Obituaries from the July 21 paper.

Shannon P. Doyle born Oct. 13, 1975 in Sulphur, died Friday, July 16, 2010 at the age of 34 years. Shannon was a member of the First Apostolic Church in Goodrich, Tex., where he served as the youth Sunday School teacher and their sound technician. He was employed with Vescom working at Georgia Pacific.

His loving family includes, wife, Leah Doyle; two sons, Tyler Blaine Doyle and Braeton Shane Doyle; father, Walter Doyle; two brothers, Michael Doyle and wife, Lorretta and Greg Doyle and wife, Lein; numerous other relatives and a host of friends.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Sharon Accord Doyle.

A visitation was held from 2:30-8 p.m. Sunday, July 18, at the First Apostolic Church in Goodrich. A Celebration of his Life was held at 2 p.m. Monday, July 19, at First Apostolic Church, Hwy 59 South, Goodrich, Tex. with Rev. Ted Buxton, Rev. Trey Buxton, Rev. Jeremy Shields, Rev. David Becton, Rev. Chris Bankard, and Rev. Paul Mettlen officiating.

Pallbearers were Mathew Davenport, Blake Davenport, Brandon Cessna, Austin Cessna, Jonathan Martinez, Darrius Williams, Damacius Williams and Tim Fultz.

Honorary pallbearers were Danny Smith, Kevin Davenport, Gary Cessna and Henry Perkins. Interment followed at Peebles Cemetery.

Funeral services for Helen Claudine McMahon, 80, of Starks were held Tuesday, July 20, at Gambrell Baptist Church in Starks. Graveside services were held Tuesday, July 20, at Spears Chapel Cemetery near Burkeville, Tex.

Mrs. McMahon died Saturday, July 17, 2010 at West Calcasieu-Cameron Hospital in Sulphur. A native of Wiergate, she was a longtime resident of Starks. She retired as cafeteria manager of Starks High School after 20 years of service.

Survivors include two daughters, Ladonna Gibson and husband, David and Margie A. Bussell, all of Starks; two sisters, Avis Nash of Evans and Billie Ansley of Cleveland; four grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Youat McMahon; sons, Michael Gordon and Langford Glenn McMahon; and a grandson, David Todd Gibson.

Huey Shirley, 79, of DeQuincy, was born into this world on July 12, 1931 and entered his heavenly home on July 15, 2010.

A Christian by faith, he was a member of Northside Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon for many years. He also served the Lord in many other capacities in the church and in his community throughout his Christian life. Witnessing to others about Jesus was his main lot in life.

He was a graduate of DeQuincy and went on to serve his country in the Army from 1952 until 1954. He served in Japan, was a medic where his troops called him "Doc". He worked for Trunkline Gas Co. in Longville, as an operator and retired in 1987. He enjoyed planting a garden with his wife and they had great pleasure in sharing their over abundance with others.

He is survived by his wife, Pauline Jacobs Shirley; two sons, Preston Wayne Shirley and wife, Brenda of Longville, and Darryl Shirley and wife, Theresa of DeQuincy; three daughters, Loretha Neal of Jasper, Tex., Susan Baker and husband, Bobby of Liberty, Tex., and Lydia Bertrand and husband, Nathan of DeQuincy; three sisters, Marion Whittington and Velma Streams of DeQuincy and Marie Ragle and husband, Burney of Longville; a brother, Jackie Bell of Taylorville, Ill. and a foster brother, Dennis Bell of DeQuincy. Also left to cherish his memory are some of his most prized treasures, 11 grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren and a host of beloved nieces, nephews, special extended family and next door neighbors, Fred and Audrey Reeves.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Silas "Ras" Shirley, who died when Huey was only 5 years old; his mother, Bulah Welch Shirley Bell and stepfather, Johnny Bell; two sisters, Versie Bell and Lucille Taylor; an infant sister, Loretha Shirley; a half brother, Gerald Bell; and a granddaughter, Courtney Neal.

Services were held Saturday, July 17, at 11 a.m. in the Hixson-Snider Funeral Home. Bro. Scott Streams officiated. Burial was in Masonic Cemetery under the direction on Hixson-Snider Funeral Home.

Janet Marie Willis, 45, a native of Houston, Tex. and a resident of DeQuincy, died Monday, July 19, 2010, at her residence.

She is survived by her parents, George Allen Cole and Maureen Baggett Cole of DeQuincy; her husband, Walt W. Willis of DeQuincy; one daughter, Carrie Flores and husband Jarred of Lake Charles; two sisters, Elizabeth Green and husband Todd, and Cyndi Allen and husband Clyde, all of DeQuincy.

Visitation will be from 5-10 p.m. Wednesday, July 21, and from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday, July 22, at Christensen Funeral Home.

Funeral service will be at Christensen Funeral Home at 2 p.m. Thursday, July 22, with Bro. Gene Vincent officiating. Interment will be at Good Hope Cemetery in Singer.

Corlis (Carly) Perkins, went to be in God's loving arms Tuesday, July 20, 2010 at her residence.

She was born in DeRidder. She enjoyed music, was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was an active member of Church of the Lord Jesus Christ Church in DeRidder.

She is survived by her husband Lee Perkins of DeRidder; four sons, Walter Lee Perkins, Jr. of DeRidder, David Perkins, Sr. of Sulphur, Randy Perkins of Moss Bluff, Terry Perkins of Gillis; one daughter, Debbie Jensen of Sulphur; two nephews, Hank Jones and Shane Jones; one neice, Tara Wilburn, 11 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence and Gertrude Sutherland; daughter, Anna Culpepper; and stepfather, Luther Perkins.

Her funeral will be at 3 p.m. Thursday July 22, at Hixson-Snider Funeral Home of DeQuincy. The Reverend Lloyd Jeane will officiate. Visitation will be Wednesday July 21, from 5-9 p.m. and Thursday July 22, 9 a.m. until time of service at Hixson-Snider Funeral Home.

Burial will be in Good Hope Cemetery in Singer.
